Building Something New: AEROCOMPACT G10+
Building the AEROCOMPACT G10+ in Atlanta, Georgia.
At Pine Energy, we take a lot of pride in learning new racking systems. We like to say that we can build any system anywhere.
Recently, we worked for our good friends at Cherry Street Energy and learned the AEROCOMPACT G10+. It’s an exciting build for us. The project is a 542.7kw system in Atlanta, Georgia. The field would not support driven piles or helical screws, so a ballasted ground mount was chosen.
We looked at this project as a rooftop project on the ground. We’ve previously built east-west ballasted systems, including AEROCOMPACT’s version, so we were not intimidated. But, of course, there were new things to learn.
Specifically, we learned about the vegetation mats for these ballasted ground mounts and about best practices for rolling them out and pinning them to the ground. The wire management for the module leads, MLPEs, and homeruns was also different due to the height of the system. In fact, we did some under module work.
Led by our Superintendent Gio Aguilar and our Senior Superintendent Jose Palacios, we learned a new system, built it efficiently, and turned over another good solar build to a satisfied client.
